See example attached. Here's an interface suggestion. 
It's confusing and frustrating when 3  fields within one item all behave differently.  
A command-enter to save this field would help... but consistency overall would be lovely. Thank you.

We have made a platform wide update to notes. There is now a save icon on all Rich Text editor inputs to manually save and all notes will save on "blur" as well.

+1 to this. Got used to inputs autosave in timesheets, forms, etc. And I just recently found this quirk in the Notes. It would really be nice if the Notes autosave when I click outside it.

Ya, that inconsistency caused me a huge issue last week. I had notes for a second meeting with a potential client. Thought it was being saved and lost the entire conversation with the President.
