Billable rate over-ride at Time Tracking or Deliverable level
complete

I would like to be able to control the hourly rate, or whether or not an activity is billed, within the timer itself. I have many projects where some of the work is billable hourly and some is flat fee.
I want to track the time regardless. Right now I only see where I can set a rate at the client or project level.
Maybe even better would be having work categories that can be set up in accounting with an hourly rate. Then have a default for a client or project, but be able to pick a different category in the timer as I do the work.
That would let people bill different rates for different things, plus see what type of work that they do is most profitable.
Forgive me if Hectic already does this and I just can't find it!

This is complete. We added the ability to flag a time entry as Non-Billable.

I don't know if this feature could be included in this ticket but I commented it in case it happens to someone else.
It might also be good to set an hourly price for employees or team members. Since in my case, I have people that I pay by the hour and by simply adding that option it would be great to know exactly how much to pay them. Also said, it would be good to add a role in which this team member cannot edit their hours (or if) or have a report.

That is awesome. If I can set the rate to 0 that's as good as "non billable" to me.
What I have been doing that is also working for me is making a separate project for non billable deliverables, setting that projects rate to 0, and then running my timer against that project for "non billable."
In my case non-billable work is USUALLY for clients who pay me an annual fee for technical support, so having a separate project for that works well.
I do have times when I do something for free out of the goodness of my heart or to fix something I messed up. It will be nice to be able to track that time, and add the line item to the invoice automatically if I want to let the client know I did that for them. (If the non-billable items won't go on the invoice automatically, that's okay, I can add a manual line item for them, they're not super frequent.)

Hey Laura Townsend - we just launched part this feature request yesterday. If you set your project fee structure up as "Per Item" pricing, you will be able to set the Hourly Rate on each deliverable that you track hours to.
We are still reviewing the original request which involves marking a time entry as "non-billable", but hopefully the update this week at least gets you part of the way there.
