Enable Client-Facing Tasks

Currently we have the option to allow clients to view/collaborate on project tasks or not have them view the project status at all. I include a lot of nitty gritty details in my project tasks/sub-tasks that I don't want my client to see. As a result I have to turn task view completely off and it doesn't show any information about the process of the project. It would be nice to allow a client view of completed tasks (with less details) or a graph or pie chart of some kind to at least show the percentage of the project complete. I send weekly project updates but sometimes my clients just want to be able to take a look to get a quick progress report.

This feature exists now with the ability to only show "assigned" tasks in the portal.
You can change the task visibility to "assigned only" and if the project is Full Access - Read Only or Full Access, the client portal users will ONLY see tasks they are assigned to - effectively allowing task-by-task visiblity control.

Geoff Mina Amazing!
One question: I'm not seeing a way to edit a project's portal access or any settings for task visibility. Can you give some guidance on where these settings are?
Geoff Mina
Jacob McKinney Projects --> Project List --> Click into a project. Then click the [Edit] button and you can control the client portal permissions.

Geoff Mina I'm not seeing that in the edit form. But this may be a bug.

It would be great if tasks just had an option to show/hide them in the portal.

Jacob McKinney: I'm actually going to close this out as we do have a way to do this now. You can change the task visibility to "assigned only" and if the project is Full Access - Read Only or Full Access, the client portal users will ONLY see tasks they are assigned to - effectively allowing task-by-task visiblity control.

Geoff Mina 1) if we do task visibility, assigned only; will only the person that it is assigned to receive the email? 2) With Full Access, they can change the due date etc. and so I had overview set up for my projects, so they would see the task, action it, but not be able to change key fields... (like the start/due date). However, everyone receives the request for a task to be actioned. Can this Assigned Only be added to the Overview Project type?

I would like clients to ONLY see their tasks. In essence, we would be able to filter out what they can and can't see. For now, I am planning on using Moxie for only the client assigned tasks, but in an ideal world, I would bring the full project into Moxie so everything lives in one place.

Ashley What I have done is created two projects for each client that house the tasks. Client Project is the one the clients can see, and are involved in. Internal Project they don't see. Thats the only way I could figure out how to get around this.

Paul Burns that’s a bummer, but I’m glad you found a workaround for now.
