Expense/income categories

I'd like to be able to edit the existing expense categories and also be able to add income categories.

A reporting feature for expenses and income would be good too.

Agreed. I'd like the categories to mirror my current Chart of Accounts. If we could edit all of the categories, I could add the number prefix to each line.

Ha so I forgot that I'd already suggested this! Adding further comment below:

I'd like to be able to add custom income categories so I can easily see how much comes in for each revenue stream.

Bec Lloyd: where do you envision doing the categorization for income? Invoice , line item, elsewhere?

Geoff Mina: In my current invoicing software, the category is selected from a dropdown when applying a payment (or when manually entering income from elsewhere).

But yes, for Hectic, it could also be an extra field in the pop up box when creating a new product/service (line item) for an invoice.

Geoff Mina, I think it would be nice to add a categories dropdown to the product and services window... So, for every paid invoice the report would track each total... For example, if an invoice has three items and they all are in different categories, after invoice is paid, totals will be added in these columns on the reporting.

Hey Bec Lloyd - if you scroll to the bottom of the expense category list or just type “+” in the search, you will see an option to add custom categories.

Additionally, if you go to the P&L tab there is a download report option which will give you a report file with tabs for all of your accounting info.
